FAQs
Welcome to Crystal Care's FAQ page, your go-to resource for answers to commonly asked questions about joining our agency.
If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out to our team for personalised assistance.
Joining the agency:
I’m interested in joining your agency. Do I need qualifications?
This depends on the role. For all roles, you will need 3 months minimum paid experience working in the UK.
You don’t need qualifications as a Carer, but you may wish to undertake L2 and L3 Health and Social Care with us – free of charge. If you are a Nurse, you will need to provide evidence that you have an active NMC Pin Number.
What is the process for joining your agency?
Click on the Register/Apply Now tab on the website, or call the office to arrange to see us. A face-to-face interview might be arranged, which you will either be accepted or rejected for the role.
I have a transferable DBS, will that help?
Yes, but we need to see the original certificate so that we can verify the certificate number with the employer's database to DBS.
I don't have a DBS, what do I do?
We can apply for a DBS for you. It costs £55, but you can pay in full upfront or pay a deposit, and we take the remaining amount out of your weekly pay.
How many references do you need and from who?
Two references are needed if you have a current employer and colleague. Alternatively, three character references will be accepted (e.g. colleagues, neighbours - but not family).
What happens at induction?
We undertake a health questionnaire in case you need any reasonable adjustments. We give you your uniform and badge, as well as access to the WhatsApp booking group.
What do I need to pay for?
Only your Enhanced DBS, if you don't already have one, which is £55. If you want to buy your training certificates, there would also be a cost.
What is the pay rate, and how often will I be paid?
All staff are paid weekly every Friday by 4pm (or earlier). Staff are paid significantly above the national minimum wage.
Can I choose day/nights to work?
We have a variety of shifts available. We will ask at interview what shifts you prefer to best suit your needs.
Is there enough work?
Dr Louise May Limited, now trading as Crystal Care, has been in operation since November 2013. We have built up significant partnerships with Nursing and residential homes across the Wirral and Liverpool, and we now have repeat work all the time.
What if I like a nursing home and want a job there?
Tell us that you are interested, and we can look at giving you more shifts there - then if you still like it then we can approach the home and look if we can set up a temp to permanent role for you. It does not cost you, but we negotiate for you.
As a Qualified Nurse, can you help with my revalidation?
Yes, Dr Louise May is a qualified nurse with an active NMC Pin number, so she can sign you off when you have completed all the revalidation updated hours of training, clinical practice and reflections. We provide you with monthly supervision in which you can discuss reflective practice and get them signed off, as well as a printout of all your placements type and hours/training hours.
