At Crystal Care, we believe that quality care means being proactive, personal, and continually improving the ways we support the people who rely on us. That’s why we are excited to announce the introduction of a new digital health monitoring tool - the WhzanBlue Box - now available as part of our home care services.

This ground-breaking technology is designed to offer early detection, reassurance, and an added layer of protection for our clients and their loved ones.

As we continue to champion safe, independent living at home for the elderly and vulnerable, tools like the Blue Box help us stay a step ahead in maintaining health and well-being.

What Is the Whzan Blue Box?

The Whzan Blue Box is a portable digital health monitoring system developed by WhzanDigital Health, a company with a long-standing partnership with the NHS and a reputation for innovation. This system is transforming how care is delivered at home.

The Blue Box contains:

  • A tablet computer pre-loaded with clinical software

  • Vital signs monitoring tools, including:

  • A blood pressure cuff

  • Thermometer

  • Pulse oximeter

  • Respiration monitor

All readings are automatically uploaded and securely stored, ensuring continuity of care and efficient communication with healthcare professionals if needed.

The Blue Box Health Check

Our carers are trained to use the Blue Box. It only takes a few minutes to carry out a full health check. The carer will gently guide the client through each step, making sure they feel comfortable throughout.

The following will typically be monitored:

  • Blood pressure and heart rate

  • Temperature

  • Oxygen saturation levels

  • Respiratory rate

  • Level of alertness and general well-being

  • NEWS2 score

In addition, carers may ask a few simple wellness questions. All of this helps to build a clear picture of the client’s health - offering reassurance that everything is on track, or alerting us to when further medical attention may be needed.

What Is a NEWS2 Score?

NEWS2 stands for National Early Warning Score 2, a standardised tool developed by the Royal College of Physicians. It is widely used across hospitals and GP surgeries in the UK to detect early signs of deterioration.

By using the same scoring system in the home, our carers can speak a common language with GPs, nurses, and paramedics - speeding up any follow-up care if necessary.

This makes it easier for families to feel confident that their loved one is being monitored with the same level of care and attention they would receive in a clinical setting.

How Crystal Care Uses the Blue Box

At Crystal Care, the Blue Box is a valuable addition to the way we provide personalised, attentive care.

When we first meet a new client, we carry out a digital health check using the Blue Box to establish a baseline of vital health indicators. This gives us a clear picture of your usual wellbeing and helps us build a care plan that’s truly tailored to your needs.

From that point on, our trained carers use their experience and observations during routine visits to monitor how you’re feeling day to day. If a carer notices that something seems “not quite right,” they can then use the Blue Box to perform a quick, non-invasive digital check. This allows us to compare the current readings with your initial baseline and identify any early signs of concern.

By using the Blue Box in this way, we’re able to act quickly when needed, while allowing you or your loved one to live comfortably and independently at home.

Our Commitment

At Crystal Care, we’re proud to lead the way in using technology to enhance home care without losing the human touch. The Blue Box is one of several steps we’re taking to modernise the care experience while keeping our values of compassion, quality, and personalised support at the centre of everything we do.

This service is available across our home care network, and we’re already seeing the benefits in both client wellbeing and the confidence of families who trust us with their loved one’s care.
